• Own engineering strategy, organization design, execution, and technical health at executive level.
• Own architecture and technical decisions for high-impact products and platform capabilities.
• Translate business and product goals into pragmatic engineering plans and milestones.
• Build, review, and improve production systems with attention to reliability, security, and performance.
• Raise engineering standards through design reviews, documentation, testing, and operational discipline.
• Mentor engineers and improve collaboration across product, data, design, and go-to-market teams.
• Use metrics and incident learning to prioritize technical investment and reduce recurring risk.

• A record of shipping and operating complex software in a senior engineering role.
• Strong system design, technical judgment, and written communication.
• Experience working across product and business functions in a fast-moving environment.
• Ability to lead ambiguous work from initial problem definition through production results.
• Experience coaching peers or leading technical programs without relying on formal authority.
• Authorization to work in the United States for the employer without misrepresenting work status.

The anticipated base salary range across represented VP of Engineering searches in New York is $240,000 to $400,000 per year. Final compensation depends on the employer, scope, level, experience, and work arrangement and may include bonus, commission, or equity where applicable.
