Senior Full-Stack Engineer - Ruby on Rails + React
Location:
Cedarhurst, NY (preferred) or Remote within the U.S.
Employment Type:
Full-Time
We are building a legal-technology platform that is actively used in production to manage complex legal workflows, automate repetitive work, generate documents, coordinate communications, integrate with third-party systems, and streamline the day-to-day operations of a growing law practice.
We are looking for an exceptional full-stack engineer with strong Ruby on Rails and React experience who wants meaningful ownership over a real production application.
You will work across the entire application, from Rails backend services and APIs to complex React interfaces and workflow automation.
What You'll Work On- Build significant new features across a Ruby on Rails + React application
- Develop sophisticated, production-grade React interfaces
- Design and maintain REST APIs and application services
- Work with PostgreSQL, including complex queries, migrations, and performance optimization
- Develop background jobs, queues, notifications, and asynchronous workflows
- Build document-generation and workflow-automation systems
- Integrate third-party APIs and external services
- Improve performance, reliability, architecture, and maintainability
- Take ownership of features from concept through production
- Ruby on Rails
- React
- PostgreSQL
- Sidekiq / Active Job
- Render
- AWS S3
Strong professional experience in both Ruby on Rails and React is required. This is a true full-stack position, and candidates must be highly proficient in both.
The ideal candidate has:- 5+ years of professional Ruby on Rails experience
- Strong React experience building real production applications
- Strong understanding of Rails architecture, conventions, and best practices
- Strong experience designing Rails APIs and working with PostgreSQL
- Experience with background jobs, mailers, queues, and asynchronous processing
- Strong debugging and problem-solving ability
- Experience working with live production systems
- The ability to independently own complex features across the full stack
- Good judgment about architecture, maintainability, and when to keep things simple
- A strong sense of personal responsibility for the quality of what you build
Candidates should be prepared to provide a Git Hub profile, code samples, or examples of prior work.
Nice to Have- Deployment, cloud infrastructure, and production operations experience
- Strong UI/UX instincts
- Experience building SaaS products
- Experience with workflow-heavy or automation-heavy applications
- Experience working on a small engineering team where individual contributors have significant ownership
You will not be working on an internal prototype that may someday be used.
You will be building a real system that is already in production and directly impacts how legal work gets performed every day.
The platform automates work that would otherwise require substantial manual effort, and there is a significant roadmap of new functionality still to build.
Because the team is small, engineers have a high level of ownership. You will be able to see your work move quickly from idea to production.
LocationOur preference is for someone who can work with us in person in Cedarhurst, New York. However, we are open to strong remote candidates anywhere in the United States.
(If this job is in fact in your jurisdiction, then you may be using a Proxy or VPN to access this site, and to progress further, you should change your connectivity to another mobile device or PC).
