Location: New York
Role Overview
Build and stress-test production software on top of frontier large language models, helping evaluate their real-world capabilities before release. You will work directly with an AI lab engineering manager on fast-moving projects, quickly onboard to unfamiliar codebases, and deliver working code early.
Key Responsibilities- Build and ship full-stack applications, services, and internal tools using Python, Java, Rust, C#, C++, or Type Script to exercise model capabilities end to end.
- Integrate pre-release model APIs into functional software, including tool interfaces, evaluation harnesses, and telemetry.
- Identify, diagnose, and document model and integration failure modes, turning engineering findings into clear written feedback for research teams.
- Rapidly prototype against changing requirements and deliver working increments with limited upfront specification.
- Collaborate with the engineering manager and other engineers on code quality, architecture, and technical documentation.
- At least 3 years of dedicated professional experience building and shipping production software at a recognized top-tier organization.
- Production experience in at least one of Python, Java, Rust, C#, or C++, plus working proficiency in a second programming language.
- Hands-on full-stack experience with backend services and APIs, a modern front-end framework such as React, relational or document databases, and cloud deployment.
- Ability to quickly contribute working code in an unfamiliar codebase with minimal ramp-up.
- Demonstrable career progression.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly.
- United States-based, hourly W-2 employment.
- Full-time weekday commitment of at least 40 hours per week.
- Compensation: $50 to $65 per hour.
- The team is intentionally staffed across multiple programming-language ecosystems.
