*** About the Role
** Our client is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to solve complex technical challenges, contribute to architectural decisions, and strengthen engineering practices. You’ll own backend systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and incorporate AI-assisted development into your daily work, addressing challenges in backend architecture, system design, and cloud infrastructure.

The role primarily uses Python or Type Script, depending on team needs. Prior experience in either language is not required. Strong, transferable backend engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn new languages and tools are most important.
** What You’ll Do
*** Design, build, and deliver backend systems, including data-intensive production applications.
* Contribute to technical direction and coding and design standards.
* Use and champion AI coding tools in your daily workflow.
* Collaborate with and mentor engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
* Partner with product, data, Dev Ops, and business teams to scope and deliver technical solutions.
* Contribute to testing strategy, system health, observability, and infrastructure decisions within your area of ownership.
** What We’re Looking For
*** 5–7+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of delivering complex backend projects, including large-scale APIs and backend data processing.
* Hands-on experience with relational databases and data model design.
* Strong system design fundamentals and cloud infrastructure experience; AWS preferred.
* Experience with CI/CD and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
* Comfort using AI coding assistants and automation to improve individual and team productivity.
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to sharing knowledge.
** Preferred Qualifications
*** Healthcare SaaS experience or familiarity with healthcare workflows.
* Experience shipping user-facing AI products or deploying AI/ML models.
* GraphQL and PostgreSQL experience.
* Experience with observability tools such as Datadog.
* Open-source contributions or technical publications.
