Scarsdale Public Schools are looking for a dynamic, team‑oriented individual to serve as the Boys Ice Hockey – JV Head Coach. The candidate will demonstrate expert content knowledge, success in coaching at the high‑school level, and a commitment to the social, emotional, mental, and physical development of student‑athletes.
Job GoalTo instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. The coach should continue to upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.

The Athletic Director and Varsity Head Ice Hockey Coach.
Qualifications- Ability to assist in the organization and supervision of an ice hockey program.
- Previous successful coaching experience in ice hockey.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and a willingness to examine new theories and practices pertinent to the field.
- Serves as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.
- Has a thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Scarsdale Public Schools' Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation by the entire sports staff.
- Is familiar with existing system, state, and league regulations and implements them consistently.
- Prepares for scheduled events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times.
- Serves as a mentor, promoting the development of character traits such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
- Monitors student athletes' grades and conduct.
- Follows procedures concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
- Aids in the management and use of equipment and instills respect for equipment and school property.
NYS certification in physical education or a coaching license is required.
