As Head Coach of Girls Basketball, you will lead the team, promote athletic excellence, and align the program with Capital Prep’s social‑justice mission. You will supervise assistant coaches, manage travel, maintain student‑athlete health, and create a culture of respect and achievement.
Key Responsibilities- Adhere to and enforce all Capital Prep athletic policies and procedures.
- Set program goals, objectives, and values consistent with the athletics department mission.
- Design and conduct regular practice sessions during and outside of the season.
- Motivate student‑athletes to perform at maximum levels.
- Provide conditioning and training to ensure physical readiness for competition.
- Employ sound teaching techniques in game and practice preparation.
- Follow administrative procedures in the Athletics Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Enforce team travel standards for behavior and appropriate dress.
- Oversee training and care of student‑athlete team members.
- Select, supervise, and guide assistant coaches while monitoring their professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations for assistant coaches.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Administration.
- High School diploma required.
- Valid Connecticut driver’s license (passenger endorsement and clean driving record).
- Valid CT coaching certification.
- CPR/AED/first aid certification.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Coaching or participation at the high‑school level preferred.
- Ability to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
- Willingness to fundraise.
- Ability to interact with all levels of the school community.
Salary commensurate with experience. Athletic coaching stipend ranges from $2,000 to $8,000.
