Head Boys Baseball Coach

Location:

Broad Rock Middle School, South Kingstown, RI

Reports to:

Athletic Director and Principal

Summary

The Head Coach is responsible for coaching the Boys Baseball program and overseeing all athlete development during practices and competitions.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise athletes during practices and competition.
  • Instruct players on rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Organize and direct individual and small‑group practice activities.
  • Develop game strategy and formulate plays.
  • Maintain equipment in orderly condition and ensure its security.
  • Model appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
  • Follow established procedures for athlete injuries.
  • Implement nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Travel to and from away contests.
  • Participate in special events such as parent nights, banquets, award nights.
  • Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Perform any related duties assigned by the Athletic Director or appropriate authority.
Qualifications
  • 1‑3 years of head coaching experience at the middle or high school level (preferred).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the game and current coaching techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student athletes.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relate to students and teach them on and off the court.
  • Willingness to accept a high level of accountability.
  • Ability to assess players’ performance.
Required Certifications
  • RIIL‑NFHS sponsored Fundamentals of Coaching Course (completed).
  • First Aid and CPR (valid and renewed annually).
  • NFHS Concussion Course (completed and renewed annually).
  • Rhode Island State Components (completed and renewed annually).
  • NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course (completed and renewed annually).
  • Background check (completed).
  • Any additional courses assigned by RIIL / RIPCOA (completed).
Physical Requirements
  • Use hands and fingers.
  • Reach in all directions.
  • See, hear, and understand speech at normal levels.
  • Communicate clearly in normal conversation.
  • Use telephone or other communication equipment.
Compensation

All coaches shall be paid as established in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the National Education Association of South Kingstown. Stipend details are determined by district policy.
