Fleet Operations is seeking a Fleet Driver who is committed to delivering safe, reliable, and responsive support services. The role involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and requires leading with care, precision, and purpose, ensuring every task reflects our dedication to zero‑harm and exceptional service.
Core Responsibilities- Candidates are required to complete all career path trainings.
- Ensure safe and proper load securement of material and equipment for transport.
- Ensure accurate time reporting.
- Ensure the safe transport of company materials and equipment in compliance with all city, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain a CDL A license.
- Able to drive manual transmissions (stick shift).
- Transport materials and equipment between the Astoria Service Center and company sites.
- Comply with all NYC DOT and FMCSA regulations during operations.
- Be able to work overtime, extended hours, various shifts, and respond to storm and emergency operational conditions on a 24/7 basis as required.
- Selected candidates must be able to work in all outdoor weather conditions, do extensive driving, walking, climbing, standing, push/pull/lift 50‑60 pounds unassisted, work on ladders and various elevations.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED and 3 to 5 years of experience operating commercial vehicles and equipment, preferably with a focus on material and equipment transport.
Licenses and Certifications- Driver’s License, CDL A – required upon hire.
- Metal Coil Endorsement Code M – 180 days required.
- Hazmat endorsement – 180 days required.
- Ability to respond to system emergencies.
- Able to work in all weather conditions, including excessive heat and/or cold.
- Perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off‑road conditions.
- Perform heavy manual labor: push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work in, under, and on top of all types of company vehicles and/or equipment.
- Work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (e.g., noise, confined spaces).
- Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday.
- Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday.
- Unload materials from delivery vehicles and deliver equipment and materials to various operating facilities.
- Travel to company locations for storm restoration and heat contingencies.
- Use hand‑eye coordination to adjust controls on equipment.
- Wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), e.g., fire‑retardant clothing and safety harnesses.
- Work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Will be assigned a system emergency assignment and expected to work non‑business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
