Shipping & Receiving Clerk
Job OverviewThe Shipping and Receiving Tech will be responsible for verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments. This individual will prepare items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.
Roles & Responsibilities- Schedule and monitor deliveries
- Receive and unload freight both manually or with pallet jacks
- Measure and record the daily volume of incoming and outgoing USPS mail, intercompany mail, UPS/Fed Ex/DHL packages as required
- Check for damaged goods; verify quantity and quality of order
- Verify items received with PO
- Transfer material from wood pallets to plastic pallets
- Wrap packages and ship supplies
- Unpack, examine and route incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
- Stock shelves and rotate inventory
- Maintain inventory records
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies
- Perform all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods
- Support the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base
- Make arrangements for pick up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order, which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
- Keep adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
- Frequently required to use email, phone, and direct interaction with customers, suppliers, and site team
- May assemble furniture
- Assist with additional tasks as directed by SBM site leadership
- May receive hazardous material
Education and/or
Experience:
High School diploma or GED; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: May be required to have a valid driver’s license. May be required to have Fork Lift certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be computer literate – knowledge of Microsoft Suite preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Must have thorough understanding of material handling. Ability to write simple correspondence or present information. Strong organizational and communication skills. Required to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 35 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands & Work Environment- Frequently required to sit and talk or listen. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

5:00am-2:00pm (Weekends required to work)
Compensation$19.00-$20.00 per hour
