Support Worker
Newark, Part Time (25 hours per week), Permanent
£32,471 - £33,803 (FTE)
Future Prospects Group are proud to be partnering with Newark Emmaus Trust to recruit a part time, permanent Support Worker in the Newark area.
Newark Emmaus Trust is a forward thinking independent Trust that provides essential supported accommodation, training and education for homeless young people aged 16-25 years and their babies in Newark. The Role
The purpose of the Support Worker role is to work within the policies and procedures of the Trust and as directed by the Senior Support Worker.
Part of this role is to manage and mentor a number of residents aged 16-25 across various properties in Newark, ensuring that each resident is provided with a person-centered support plan that empowers them to make changes in their lives including linking them in with the necessary external agencies as well as providing advice and one to one basic support to residents to enable them to develop the skills that they need to live independently and move on from Net.
The other part of the role is to be responsible for a specialism depending on the applicant’s skill set and experience. Within this specialism a programme of activities and workshops will be delivered, using imaginative ways to encourage and engage residents to develop their skills and knowledge.
The day to day responsibilities of the Support Worker role will include:
Assessment and Case Work
* To ensure that residents receive the highest possible standards of care and support.
* To conduct regular formal and informal face to face support meetings.
* To involve the residents in the planning, assessment and reviewing of their own personal development plans, for example using a young person's Star Chart.
* To promote the safety of all young people who use the Trust's services through the implementation of appropriate safeguarding procedures.
* To support and assist clients with general preparations for independence including basic and life skills training for example cooking, cleaning, laundry & budgeting.
* To accompany clients to appointments and access other services.
Office / Duty Worker
* To ensure that accurate records are maintained for reporting and monitoring purposes and to engage with evaluation and impact monitoring.
* Carry out regular Health & Safety and security checks of the buildings taking action to address any associated risks.
* Deliver workshops covering a range of topics to suit your skill set.
General
* Maintain organisational, client and colleague confidentiality at all times.
* Adhere to the Trust's Policies and Procedures at all times especially in relation to fire, health & safety, safeguarding and safe working practices.
Specialism
* In addition to client support, the post holder will have further responsibilities to deliver workshops and activities linked to their specialism.
The Candidate
The ideal Support Worker will be able to demonstrate the following:
* Previous experience in a support worker/carer role, helping young people with complex needs to manage difficult situations.
* Ability to maintain accurate records read and comprehend written reports, risk assessments or policies and procedures.
* An understanding of professional boundaries, data protection/GDPR and safeguarding, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
* Must possess a full valid UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle.
* Must be able to work shifts with a mixture of day, evening, weekend shifts on a rota basis to include some bank holidays.
* Right to work in the UK.
This is a 24 hour/7 day a week operation so you must be able to work days and evenings to include weekends and bank holidays but on a rota basis.
The successful applicant will be required to have an enhanced DBS check.
