We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Kirton team in the position of SHE Manager.
This position will provide direction, support and ownership for all Safety, Health and Wellbeing activities on site plus facilitation of the Environmental management standards as part of the businesses Integrated Management System (IMS).
The role holder will manage the systems and processes with site management that exist to monitor and control our compliance to legislation, internal policies as well as being the lead of both internal and external auditsand proactive SHE improvement activities.
They will be the individual on site who will guide and influence Operational Management to maintain high standards, champion innovation and solutions to issues, promote positive culture and safe working practices and deliver the IMS to prove compliance. They will share best practice from other parts of the business or external forums to drive continuous improvement. They will provide training to their operational management teams using the tools provided in the IMS system and be the visible face of health, safety and wellbeing throughout the plant.
Your duties would include but not limited to the following:
- Oversee all company standards (Inc. the Golden Rules) within their area of responsibility.
- Provide functional support and leadership to operational managers at site.
- Oversee the issue of task authorisations for employees using SP008.F7.
- Oversee employees training processes and records, to demonstrate competence.
- Communicate and implement policies and procedures with operational management.
- Assist site to meet their health and safety objectives, which form part of the 3 year manufacturing excellence program.
- Manage the actions that arise from external audits, inspections, incidents and external reports working with site team to close out.
- Be a visible presence on the shop floor to promote high standards of compliance and behaviours, as part of visible felt leadership.
- Lead internal and external audits of the site (with operational management support) to demonstrate compliance.
- Assist the business to maintain legal compliance.
- Lead by example, to create a positive health and safety culture.
- Lead the accident and incident reports for health, safety and environmental issues at the site using the relevant database and assist with investigations.
- Lead the prompt investigation of accidents, plant or property damage, dangerous occurrences and environmental incidents or breaches, providing an ‘independent’ view on behalf of management.
- Ensure the timely submission of sustainability data within the relevant database.
- Maintain all safety related statistics for the site (Near Miss, Near Hit, Incidents, Accidents) within the relevant database.
- Lead visits from Local Authority, Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency and other outside agencies as necessary.
- Support the responsible manager in ensuring that the site complies with all aspects of the environmental permit.
- Attend and support the site Building Safety Together meeting with the Responsible Manager.
- Oversee health surveillance for all applicable colleagues.
- Undertake regular health and safety inspections.
- Escalate health and safety issues they cannot be effectively dealt with.
- Oversee the training matrix for their area of responsibility.
- Spot check the contractor control and permit to work processes to ensure they are correctly followed.
- Assist with inductions for employees, contractors and visitors as necessary.
- Oversee and coordinate the risk assessment zone plan and the creation and review of risk assessments for all activities.
- Lead the risk assessment process, overseeing work completed by operational management to a high standard.
- Communicate and im plement best practice guidance, incident alerts and training.
- Maintain documentation within the IMS system for clear visibility of compliance.
