Senior Durability CAE Engineer

Location:
Newark, CA

As Senior Durability CAE Engineer, you will be leading the assessment of durability attributes for various vehicle subsystems such as Suspension, Body Structures, Powertrain, Battery Pack, interiors, exteriors, closures, and seating. Along with CAE assessments, you will also be involved in testing activities including test plan development, test‑to‑CAE correlation, testing & validation, and design optimization. You will directly work with design teams to run trade‑off studies and design optimization loops, supporting regulatory, certification, and compliance testing at full‑system, sub‑system, and component levels.

The Role
  • Perform strength, stiffness, and fatigue analysis on different vehicle subsystems (chassis, closures, body structure, powertrain, etc.)
  • Perform correlation between test and CAE
  • Maintain traceable documentation for all durability analysis and test work
  • Able to create FEM mesh from CAD or from rough sketches
  • Support design engineers in ensuring parts meet all durability requirements
  • Able to learn and use different CAE software tools (nCode Design Life, ANSA, Meta Post, Opti Struct, Hyperworks CAE products, ADAMS, etc.)
  • Test and benchmark new analysis tools and techniques; participate in new CAE method development, process automation, and benchmarking tasks.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of related experience;
    Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in vehicle‑level CAE analysis, testing, and development.
  • Experience performing linear analysis, non‑linear analysis, fatigue analysis, design optimization, and dynamic analysis with industry‑standard CAE tools.
  • Sound fundamental knowledge of structures and mechanics of materials.
  • Proficiency in using ANSA, Hyper Mesh, Hyper View, Meta Post, nCode, Opti Struct, or similar CAE software.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle performance requirements, deriving load cases from requirements, setting performance targets, and developing testing and validation plans.
