Senior Automation Controls Engineer
Location: Newark, CA (travel to Lodi, CA required)
Employment Type: Contract to Hire
Hourly Pay Rate: $85-$90/hr.
Kelly Engineering is seeking a Senior Automation Controls Engineer for our client, a leading medical device manufacturer. You’ll work on a critical project upgrading and validating PC-based automation systems to the latest Windows 11 platform, ensuring manufacturing stays state-of-the-art and compliant with FDA regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Upgrade PC-based control systems to Windows 11 IoT LTSC and ensure vital automation applications are fully compatible.
- Perform thorough testing of system upgrades and document outcomes according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Install and deploy upgraded systems at the manufacturing site in Lodi, CA.
- Validate the installation by executing Installation and Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ) protocols consistent with FDA regulations.
- Work with applications such as Rockwell Factory Talk View ME Edition, Cognex Designer Vision-Pro, SPEL+, Epson programming, and data acquisition systems.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in automation controls.
- Advanced skills in PLC programming (Rockwell RSLogix 5000) and Factory Talk View ME Edition HMIs.
- Strong experience with Cognex Designer Vision-Pro (including deep and edge learning technology).
- Solid knowledge of robotics, motion control, servo systems, and pneumatic actuators in high-speed manufacturing.
- Prior experience in FDA-regulated industries.
- Familiarity with SPEL+ and Epson programming is a plus.
- Willing to travel up to 30% to company sites (including overnight travel).
- Lead high-impact automation projects in the medical device sector.
