Sr. Vehicle Safety Test Engineer – Contract Role (Newark, CA)

Employment Type: Contract (12 months)
Work Schedule: Full-time, M–F, 40 hrs/week (potential for overtime)
Travel: Up to 30% domestic, 5% international
Max Pay Rate: $35/hr W2
About the Role: You’ll be part of a dynamic team responsible for executing, analyzing, and reporting on crash and sled tests. This role offers a unique opportunity to work cross-functionally, lead safety test planning, and contribute to vehicle development and certification.
Key Responsibilities- Lead execution of crash and sled tests for vehicle safety validation.
- Set passive safety targets and manage test plans.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external test partners.
- Prepare vehicles and components for testing, including rebuilds and teardowns.
- Analyze test data and present findings to senior stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with global safety regulations and standards.
- 5+ years of experience in high voltage systems, crash testing and vehicle safety, vehicle rebuilds.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Strong understanding of FMVSS, ECE, NCAP, IIHS standards.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Newark, CA.
- Familiarity with homologation processes and HV components.
- Experience with high-speed and quasi-static test setups.
- Knowledge of global safety regulations and consumer test requirements.
