Job Overview

Under the general direction of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, this position involves specialized sampling and testing of wastewater from local industries and all grease generating facilities in Clovis, as well as inspection of FOG (Fats, Oils, and Greases) disposal facilities and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and collection system.

• Collect wastewater samples on a twice‑annual basis from all local industries and FOG producing facilities.
• Perform laboratory tests of the collected samples for concentrations of FOG.
• Inspect FOG disposal facilities and check pumping logs and grease interceptors or traps at all industries and food processing facilities on a regular basis to prevent excessive FOG from being discharged to City sewer lines.
• Calculate surcharges for businesses that discharge wastewater with FOG higher than the set standard.
• Complete inspection, sampling, and any other required reporting records.
• Perform any or all duties for Level II Wastewater Operator in the City’s Wastewater Division, as directed by the Superintendent after the above duties are fulfilled.

• Level II Wastewater Operators Certification of New Mexico.
• At least two years of directly related hands‑on experience in the wastewater field.
• Must meet all other qualifications of a Wastewater Operator II.
