Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) - 3rd shift

  • Full-time

Our mission is to make actionable health information accessible to people everywhere in the world at the time it matters, enabling early detection and intervention of disease, and empowering individuals with information to live the lives they want to live.

At Theranos, we're working to shape the future of lab testing. Now, for the first time, our high-complexity CLIA-certified laboratory can perform your tests quickly and accurately on samples as small as a single drop. Theranos’ patented technology can analyze samples as small as 1/1,000 the size of the typical blood draw. Our tests are certified in our CLIA laboratory and cover a full range from blood, urine, and other samples.

It's fast, easy, and the highest level of quality.

Our proprietary infrastructure allows us to perform our test analyses with unprecedented speed. So we can have results to you and your doctor in a matter of hours, not days. Which means a fast diagnosis to support better, more informed treatment.

By systematically controlling and standardizing our micro-processes, we offer tests with high levels of precision. We’ve also automated our pre- and post-analytic processes, minimizing human processing — the cause of the majority of lab-test errors. Since we make it easy to measure your body’s information at the needed frequencies, we can help doctors to see small changes in test results as they emerge over time.

In doing so, we’re working to help you and your doctor track chronic conditions and provide insight into the early detection of a broad range of medical conditions.

Theranos is actively building a world-class team. Most likely candidates are currently employed or have been employed in similar types of positions but want to be part of a paradigm-shifting company doing innovative work and gain tremendous personal and career growth. Candidates must be hard working with unfaltering determination to excel in an intense start-up environment. Theranos is looking for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to join a world-class lab focused on cutting edge technology.

The ideal candidate for this position holds a current California State Laboratory Scientist License and has experience as a CLS. Working closely with the Technical and General Supervisor, he or she will perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical procedures. This is a third-shift (night) position. Hours are 10pm - 6:30am.

Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of Technical and General Supervisors, perform laboratory procedures across a broad range of assays and in accordance with standards established in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).

  • Operate laboratory instruments and equipment. Trouble shoot and problem solve with laboratory instrumentation and assay systems as needed. Monitor and perform preventative maintenance as required for machine performance.
  • Keep meticulous and organized records of specimens, tests, instrument logs, and technical analyses.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problems or immediately notify supervisors.
  • Conduct and document appropriate quality control and assurance procedures. Assist with quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
Requirements
  • Current California State Clinical Laboratory Scientist License. Bachelor's degree in Clinical Lab Sciences or related field.
  • Ability to responsibly follow laboratory protocols and processes autonomously, consulting with supervisor when needed.
  • Knowledge of basic clinical laboratory skills. Ability to operate clinical analyzers and instrumentation.
  • Proven track record of producing accurate results and maintaining excellence in quality in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work with self-discipline, good judgment, and independence.
  • Technical excellence and attention to quality and detail.
