Position Overview
Lead Fabricator (Welder Fabricator) – responsible for repairing, assembling, or fabricating mechanical parts, pieces or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to specifications.
Responsibilities- Read, interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately create various products, fixtures and equipment.
- Provide solutions to solve complex technical manufacturing and fabrication problems.
- Create specific weldment set‑ups and fixturing to meet geometric requirements.
- Rework and/or repair welded parts and products according to engineering specification changes.
- Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
- Maintain weld machines using preventative maintenance methods.
- Identify equipment defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.
- Provide general shop support activities in support of the machine shop.
- Prioritize workflow through effective communication with management.
- Perform all work in accordance with highest quality standards and established safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Ability to design, fabricate and build basic and/or complex structures, supports or framework.
- Proficiency in ARC, MIG, TIG welding processes.
- Experience with oxy/acetylene torch, plasma arc cutting processes.
- Weld both thick and thin materials (e.g., .020" – 2" stainless steel, .030" – 6" aluminum).
- Bending, cutting and welding of tubes and other materials such as thin sheet metal.
- Ability to use a manual mill and lathe to produce required components or parts for fabrication projects.
- Familiarity with shop equipment and tools such as drill press, brake, shear, bandsaw, notcher, grinder, belt sander, punch and other power tools.
- Operation and proper use of calipers, micrometers, weld gauges, tape measures, scales and other hand tools.
- CNC, waterjet, plasma cutting experience.
Base Pay Range (hourly): $45 – $62 USD.
