Relief Clinical Nurse II (RN) - Admin Clinical Advice Svcs - 0.4 FTE (08HR) Rotating Shift - Every Weekend (Non-Benefited)

Location:

Newark, CA – 7600 Gateway Blvd, California

0.4 FTE (8-hour shift) on rotating weekends. No benefits.

What You Will Do
  • Establish therapeutic relationships: creates and maintains a healing climate by being present to the patient and family, identifying and managing discomforts, providing emotional support, guiding the patient and family through phases of illness and recovery, and aligning care with the patient’s goals and culture.
  • Mobilize the patient’s strengths and abilities toward participation in recovery and control over the plan of care.
  • Diagnostic and monitoring functions: obtain accurate assessment data, interpret it, determine nursing diagnoses, and monitor and evaluate data as stability necessitates.
  • Plan and implement therapeutic interventions: collaborate with patient, family, and health‑care team to develop an individualized plan of care, implement nursing and medical interventions safely, evaluate effectiveness, and monitor for adverse responses or side effects.
  • Teach and coach patients and families: assess learning needs and readiness, teach self‑care and illness prevention, and adjust information based on responses and cultural variations.
  • Teach staff members: incidentally or through formal roles such as preceptor or super‑user.
  • Manage rapidly changing situations: quickly grasp problems, respond appropriately, and activate emergency protocols.
  • Monitor and ensure quality healthcare practices: monitor own practice and assist in monitoring others for patient and employee safety, and pursue continual improvement in patient care and the work environment.
  • Organize work: integrate multiple requests, set priorities, delegate tasks, and seek assistance when needed.
  • Contribute to team building, morale, and constructive conflict resolution.
  • Utilize available technology for communication, documentation, and locating information regarding clinical situations, diagnoses, and treatments.
  • Contribute to staff knowledge through teaching, governance participation, professional publications, and presentations.
  • Education:

    attain and maintain knowledge and competence that reflect current nursing practice and demonstrate commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Communicate effectively in all formats across the practice setting.
  • Leadership: demonstrate leadership in the professional practice setting.
  • Professional practice evaluation: evaluate own nursing practice relative to professional standards, statutes, rules, and regulations.
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university preferred.
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Able to communicate effectively in English.
  • ACLS certification may be required by cost center. Check AskHR for details.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
  • CA-RN (Registered Nurse).
Physical Demands
  • Frequent lifting of patients and equipment, bending, stooping, and walking; moderate risks requiring safety precautions such as protective clothing or gear; exposure to contagious disease, radiation, infection, and emotionally disturbed patients.
Blood Borne Pathogens
  • Category I tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
