Overview

PDS 2 / Power Delivery Substation — Mesa Associates, Inc. seeks a Substation P&C Electrical Engineer to assist our team with the development of design packages for 12 kV–500 kV. The successful candidate will work with a team to complete substation P&C design projects to meet client standards and practices. They will be responsible for maintaining quality and staying within budget while developing deliverables such as:
One-Line Diagrams, AC & DC Schematics, Panel Layouts, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Lists, and Bills of Materials. They must have a good understanding of how substations work.

Responsibilities
  • On a task basis, is responsible for preparing and completing discipline engineering designs and supporting documentation such as AC & DC Studies, conduit fill, voltage drop, and/or lightning protection and grounding analysis.
  • Coordinates, prepares, and checks calculations, specifications, reports, design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.
  • Helps check the work of project team members as assigned.
  • Interfaces with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects as required.
  • Responsible for adhering to project scope, schedule, and budget on all assigned projects.
  • Performs other duties assigned by Principal Engineers or the Engineering Manager.
  • Establish, promote, and assure quality on all project work.
  • Work with the Project Engineer or Project Manager to follow up on construction issues with field engineers to help resolve problems and concerns promptly.
  • Attend group meetings with staff as required.
  • Incorporates safe work practices into all activities.
  • Work with the Project Engineer and team to assist with project execution, work processes, and procedures to help continually improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Use good verbal and written communication skills with team members and clients.
  • Use good interpersonal skills to build relationships with team members and clients.
  • Possess knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD or Micro Station.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer is desirable for this position.
