About Air Joule, LLC
Are you passionate about making a difference in the fight against climate change? Then Air Joule is the place for you! We are a joint venture between GE Vernova and Air Joule Technologies (formerly Montana Technologies), and a leader in the global sustainability transition. Our revolutionary atmosphere water harvesting technology enables transformative HVAC products that help our customers save money on their energy bills while reducing their environmental impact.
The same core technology also enables atmospheric water harvesting products that create clean, abundant, and decentralized water for industrial, commercial, and humanitarian purposes. If you are a highly motivated and experienced individual who wants to make a real-world impact, we encourage you to apply!
Air Joule is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer / CAD Designer to design, develop, and optimize mechanical and electromechanical systems from concept through production. This role focuses on applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Excellence (DFX) principles to deliver robust, cost-effective, and scalable solutions. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with electrical, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless transitions from innovative concepts to high-quality, production-ready products.
Key ResponsibilitiesTo perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Design & Development- Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings for mechanical components and systems.
- Apply DFA and DFX methodologies to simplify assemblies, minimize part count, and optimize ease of manufacturing, serviceability, and cost.
- Conduct tolerance stack-ups and ensure designs meet fit, form, and function requirements using GD&T standards.
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, die casting, sheet metal, additive manufacturing).
- Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers to ensure mechanical designs integrate seamlessly with system requirements.
- Generate and maintain BOMs, drawings, and design documentation aligned with PLM/PDM systems.
- Support prototype builds and product testing, evaluating designs under real-world conditions.
- Conduct mechanical analysis (stress, thermal, and vibration) using FEA or other simulation tools to validate performance.
- Work with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure smooth design transfer to production.
- Support tooling design, fixture development, and assembly line layout reviews as needed.
- Provide on-site or remote support during pilot builds, troubleshooting design and fit-up issues.
- Lead or contribute to cost-reduction initiatives through design optimization.
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, product design, or a related field.
- Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design, CAD drafting and product development.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Solid Works (Desired),
