Primary FunctionRepair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment and instrumentation used in health care delivery. Inspect and install medical and related technical equipment. Assist medical and nursing staff in the operation or use of equipment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment and instrumentation, such as patient monitors, electrocardiographs, defibrillators, and anesthesia apparatus.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections according to manufacturer or departmental procedures.
- Analyze electronic equipment for causes of failure and replace defective parts.
- Maintain equipment records and document failures, repairs, and inspections using departmental computer and paper systems.
- Identify potential hazards with medical devices and resolve them.
- Assist in investigation of incidents involving medical equipment.
- Evaluate vendor repairs and projects; deal with manufacturers on repair work and parts needed for equipment repair and maintenance.
- Instruct medical and nursing staff concerning use and operation of biomedical equipment.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in seminars, workshops, conferences as required.
- Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Report any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations to supervisor.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Frequent contact with physicians, nurses, technicians, and other hospital staff to communicate information on equipment function and safety.
Education and Experience RequirementsAssociates degree in electronic technology, technical school, or military specialized training.
Five years recent experience in electronics repair and maintenance, at least three of which must be as a BMET.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Hourly Pay Range$30.34 - $48.55. This pay rate/range represents Christiana Care's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
