Position Summary

The Project Accountant is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, reviewing budgets and preparing financial reports. They will also be responsible for reviewing and issuing payments for project related expenses.

Job Responsibilities / Essential Duties
  • Maintain project accounts and tags in the accounting system.
  • Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders.
  • Review and pay supplier invoices related to a project.
  • Review account totals related to project assets, liabilities, and expenses.
  • Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management.
  • Maintain budget and financial reporting records for projects. Report to management regarding the remaining budget available for projects.
  • Close out project accounts upon completion.
  • Compile information for internal and external auditors as required.
  • Liaison between Corporate Finance and other internal departments that have various project related financial needs.

Skills and Abilities
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication
  • Must have problem‑solving skills, and strong quantitative and analytical competency
  • Must have proven work experience in a quantitatively‑heavy role
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Excel
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Economics or relevant work experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of Business Finance or other relevant experience.
