Medical Billing Specialist – Next Gen Experience Required
Newark, Delaware
Overview: A busy medical practice is seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join their team in Newark, Delaware. The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for reconciling discrepancies and collecting on delinquent accounts. Candidates are expected to present a positive image, supporting staff members and patients at all times.
Responsibilities- Review patient’s past due statements, research, and reconcile outstanding items
- Maintain account receivable reports
- Collection of pre-surgical fees
- Maintain the accounts receivable within company goals
- Communicate with employers, insurance companies, attorney offices, and patients regarding delinquent accounts
- Review EOBs
- Verify patients' insurance
- Independently compose correspondence
- Send letter of protection when PIP is exhausted
- Document claim status on computer
- Provide financial counseling to patients and families regarding charges for health care services and assist responsible persons in arranging payment schedules
- Interface with support departments and articulate issues and concerns
- Process mail
- Interact with a variety of personalities and situations that require tact, judgment, poise and professionalism
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Promote patient rights; respond appropriately to emergency situations; share problems with immediate supervisor in a timely manner
- Experience with Next Gen software required
- Previous experience in healthcare collections/billing
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 coding
- Strong knowledge of insurance processes, EOBs, and claim submission requirements
- Experience handling workers’ compensation claims strongly preferred
- Understanding and reacting to developing trends in healthcare reimbursements
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, communication, and computer skills
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with all co-workers, patients, and the general public
