The Peer Support Specialist I provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services, assists in implementing a recovery environment, and acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of each individual.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Guest Care & Advocacy
- Provide peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assist in identifying participant’s hopes and dreams and the solutions they are seeking.
- Teach recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
- Model hope, personal responsibility and self-advocacy to demonstrate how recovery goals can be respectfully met and how belief in self is maintained.
- Assist in developing natural supports and community living.
- Cultivate connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, environment, and to meaning and purpose).
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Complete clinical documentation as required.
- Keep abreast of all federal and state regulations, laws, and Recovery Innovations policies and procedures as they presently exist and as they change.
- Understand and adhere to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as presented in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
- Cross Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to help the individual achieve their goals.
- Additional Duties
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements- Education / Licenses
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of Peer Employment Training and certification as a Peer Support Specialist.
- Experience
- Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use services.
- Skills
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to teach and train recovery information and tools.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to pass de‑escalation training as defined by state requirements.
- Driving Requirements
- Meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy if driving is required.
- If not qualified to drive, must sign a Non‑Driver Attestation form.
- Miscellaneous Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old unless different state regulations apply.
- Travel required based on business needs.
- Maintain confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines) and professionalism.
- Second‑Chance
Employer:
pass a seven‑year background check, substance abuse testing if applicable, designated fingerprinting clearance, education verification, and a three‑year motor vehicle report if driving is required.
May include work close to eyes and involve substantial motions of wrist, hands, and fingers; frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling; eye‑hand‑foot coordination; use of corrected or color vision; use of auditory senses. May be required to lift up to 20 pounds.
Work EnvironmentMay be an office environment or behavioral health facility; may have contact with agitated and/or confused individuals. Warmline remote Peer Support Specialists work remotely and are not in an office or behavioral health facility.
