Manual Machinist; Welding Shop

Position: Manual Machinist (Welding Shop)
Manual Machinist and/or Shop Welder Responsibilities:
* Operates and maintains lathe and milling machines - We have Southwestern Industries mills and lathes using ProtoTRAK M2 and SMX controls
* Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production
* Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping
* Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task
* Monitors production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary
* Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects
* Maintains a safe and clean workstation
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
* R&D and prototype small batch projects
* Support our Sheet Metal and Misc. Metals shop needs

Qualifications:

* Experience in machining w/ steel, aluminum, and stainless steel preferred
* Ability to follow work orders and work in teams
* Proto Trak control experience a plus!
* Experience with Southwestern knee mills and lathes a plus!
* Ability to read and interpret designs/blueprints
* Ability to perform physical labor and lift at least 50 pounds
* Ability to work standing for an 8-hour shift
* Knowledge of various steels and alloys, NDE processes and requirements
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
* Valid Driver's license required
* Must pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, and drug screen
