Christiana Care is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Inpatient Hematology and Oncology Team. This team of Advanced Practice Clinicians oversees admitted hematology and oncology patients including the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the Christiana Care Newark Campus.

Job DetailsThis role provides direct patient care while supporting admissions, new patient consults and cross‑coverage of inpatients on the Bone Marrow transplant and 6E units (Hematology/Oncology Floor). The position is Monday‑Friday, no call, no holidays, no weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide clinical work‑up and management to patients in the Hematology and Oncology Inpatient practice, including oncology and benign hematology patients admitted to the oncology service or with oncology consult requested.
- Utilize nurse navigation team to facilitate appropriate follow‑up with disease‑specific oncology team for any new diagnosis of malignancy and any admitted patient before discharge from the hospital.
- Perform and record initial history and physical assessment in response to consults, routine and acute clinical assessments, documentation of findings, and initiation of appropriate plan of care in collaboration with physicians and other members of the medical team.
- Adhere to all regulatory and organizational nursing policies and procedures to deliver excellent patient care.
- Work collaboratively with the clinical team, social workers, pharmacists, family members and others to ensure safe and seamless transitions of care.
- Visit newly admitted patients in a timely fashion per department policy.
- Individualize medical care plan and transition of care to the outpatient setting based on patient assessment.
- Provide appropriate patient education and counseling to patients and families in ways understandable to them.

- Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP or ACNP); or current board certification as a Physician Assistant through NCCPA.
- License or license‑eligible in the state of Delaware, including controlled substance registration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, oncology preferred.
