Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Christiana, DE is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay: $21.00 - $43.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system

At Blue Pearl Pet Hospital, the role of Veterinary Technician is an exciting, fast-paced opportunity that will allow you to utilize the skills you have worked so hard to gain. As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients, using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.

Triage emergency cases as they arrive, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.

Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.

Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.

Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting the Veterinarian to changes and issues.

Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.

Calculate medical math, including constant rate infusions, and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.

Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.

Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.

Mentor and train other team members.

Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
