Quality Surgical Officer Opportunity at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC)
RWJBarnabas Health and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC), a regional leader in academic surgical care, are seeking a Quality Surgical Officer to join our team in a transformative leadership role. This department-based physician leader will spearhead quality improvement initiatives, elevate surgical safety and outcomes, and serve as a mentor within our surgical residency program.
Position Overview: The Quality Surgical Officer will support the Chair of Surgery in overseeing and advancing all surgical quality and performance improvement activities within the department. This individual will be accountable for leading data-driven interventions, process improvements, and cultural change to achieve quality and safety goals across the surgical service line.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the physician lead for surgical quality and safety at NBIMC
- Partner with hospital leadership to develop and implement performance improvement initiatives
- Participate in and lead quality committees and working groups
- Review and respond to clinical metrics and benchmarks to enhance patient outcomes
- Provide mentorship and leadership to surgical residents and fellows
- Collaborate on the development of a robust quality-related administrative portfolio (0.40 FTE)
- Represent surgical faculty, residents, and students as a model of clinical excellence
- M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. (or equivalent)
- Board certification in General Surgery or a surgical subspecialty
- Proven track record in quality improvement and patient safety leadership
- Experience in surgical education and mentorship
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work is $500,000 to $680,000 per year.
The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
