Qualifications and Requirements- An appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or CEAS.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred).
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students by developing students' skills and competence in basic and advanced electrical techniques, tools, and practices, safety protocols, and understanding of the application of electrical principles in practical and real-world scenarios.
- Implement a comprehensive electrical curriculum and maintain familiarity with district and New Jersey State vocational standards and certifications for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement and certification success.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for electrical, translating them into practical learning experiences to develop sequential skills, challenge students, and effectively utilize instructional time.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, modifying instructional methods to meet individual student needs, including those with special needs; conduct individual and small group instruction as necessary.
- Evaluate student progress through assignments, projects and exams on a regular basis and prepare progress reports.
- Continuously acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the electrical and educational fields by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings to maintain knowledge of industry trends and technologies.
- Coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Instruct pupils in proper care and use of textbooks, equipment and materials to ensure student safety protocols.
- Enforce all safety protocols in the classroom and lab settings.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of tools, equipment and lab facilities.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, hands‑on learning, and student engagement.
- Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school’s standards and school district policies, establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Select and requisition books, instructional materials, equipment, aids, and maintain required inventory records.
- Develop and maintain professional competence through participation in in‑service education activities provided by the district and in self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Encourage student participation in skills competitions and industry-related events.
- Develop and promote student leadership, civic responsibility and citizenship through the integration of Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) activities into the curriculum, and through membership and participation in CTSO conferences and competitions.
- Supervise out‑of‑classroom activities for pupils during the assigned working day, as required.
- Plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals.
- Communicate with parents and pupil personnel staff members on the individual pupil’s progress and development.
- Maintain attendance accounting and business service as required.
- Develop and participate in the sponsorship of student activities and faculty committees.
- Act as a resource person on an interdepartmental level to relate appropriate aspects of the subject area to other subject areas.
- Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Perform other duties and tasks assigned by Supervisor.
