KIPP New Jersey, a free, open‑enrollment college‑preparatory public school network, is seeking a motivated and dedicated Elementary School Teacher for the 2025‑2026 school year in Newark’s South Ward. Job DescriptionAs a teacher at KIPP New Jersey you will have opportunities for growth and the responsibility to shape future leaders.
Responsibilities- Create, internalize, modify, and prepare lesson plans in accordance with the academic curriculum, working closely with the grade‑level team
- Use data to responsively teach to mastery of academic skills
- Work closely with students, families, and colleagues to create an environment supportive of student progress
- Reinforce a firm foundation for all classes and uphold classroom management techniques
- Help with diagnostic and progress monitoring testing across the school
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to ensure all students meet the learning objectives
- Update student performance trackers and use data to help guide lesson plans
- Participate in school, departmental, and parent meetings
- Participate in school events, activities, and programs both during and outside of regular class instruction hours
- Belief in every student’s limitless potential

- Demonstrated interest in working with students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds
- Collaborative attitude towards teaching and learning
- Record of exceptional student achievement and results at a high‑performing charter network/charter management organization
- Belief that all students deserve a world‑class education which can be achieved through education reform
- Hold a valid teaching certification in New Jersey – or –
- Meet the GPA requirement (see details below)
- If you graduated after September 2016:
- Have a bachelor’s or master’s GPA ≥ 3.0 – OR –
- Have a bachelor’s or master’s GPA between 2.75 and 3.0 AND demonstrate that you have passed all required Praxis exams with a +10% passing score (super scores)
- If you graduated before September 2016:
- Have a bachelor’s or master’s GPA ≥ 2.75
- Competitive salary of $65,000–$103,000+, plus up to $7,000 in performance‑based pay
