Under the supervision of the Director of Child Development Center or designee, the Teacher Assistant is to assist one or more Group Teachers with the daily activities of the Center as directed.

This position offers a starting salary of $15.49.
Supervisory RoleOral and written instructions are received from the Director of the Child Development Center, or designee. The Teacher Assistant may supervise student workers.
Duties & Responsibilities- Assist teachers in planning and maintaining a safe, clean learning environment that assures the safety and wellbeing of the children in their care.
- Assist with planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities in accordance with the Center's philosophy, practices and curriculum objectives.
- Maintain open daily communication with parents and provide input for bi-annual assessments of children's development.
- Observe and report any suspected abuse or questionable behaviors; maintain anecdotal records and accident reports per policies and procedures.
- Attend in-service and staff meetings; adhere to professional development requirements of the Center.
- Ensure adherence with applicable licensing regulations and with institutional regulations, policies and procedures, and the Center's written work plan.
- Adhere to basic principles of early childhood development as defined by NAEYC.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of student, staff, children and client records.
- Prepare routine, special, and ancillary reports as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.

- Communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Reach with hands and arms; use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, including computers, keyboards, telephones, calculators, and controls.
- Bend, twist, climb, push, pull, and lift.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) certification.
- Experience working with pre-school children.
- High degree of reliability and flexibility.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- Earned credits or current enrollment in college courses in Early Childhood Education or related area.
- Knowledge of basic principles of early childhood development as defined by NAEYC.
- Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
