As a Cultural/Academic Elective Instructor, you will provide instruction in a variety of elective topics including Robotics, Coding, Engineering, Drama, Creative Writing, Current Events, Psychology, Sociology, Debate, Communications, Etiquette, Art, Dance, Chess, Karate, Yoga, Mentoring, and more. The position may involve teaching a single subject or multiple subjects, depending on the candidate’s qualifications.

Staff (Part‑time non‑exempt)
- Plan, organize, develop and lead instructional programs for students in the Upward Bound Program.
- Conduct elective classes covering a broad range of topics (Robotics, Coding, Engineering, Drama, etc.).
- Teach learning strategies and use educational equipment, manipulatives, and other aids.
- Prepare and submit course outlines before classes commence.
- Complete administrative paperwork related to classroom and project management.
- Provide recommendations on students’ strengths and needs.
- Report student learning and behavioral issues to appropriate staff.
- Assist in training and evaluating Teacher Assistants.
- Attend required trainings and meetings.
- Transport students between classes as needed while ensuring supervision and safety.
- Provide 24‑hour notice in the event of an absence.
- Prepare classroom materials and activities for TAs to support student learning.
- At least two years of teaching experience at the high‑school or post‑secondary level.
- Background clearance check completed.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in the designated discipline.
- Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students at the middle‑school, high‑school, or post‑secondary level.
- Candidate may provide an equivalent combination of education and experience if it meets the university’s satisfaction.
Hourly rate: $40.00–$50.00 (USD). Position is non‑exempt and part‑time.
