MATH TUTOR - METCS

Compensation$27.00 per hour
DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Chairperson of Mathematics, Engineering Technologies & Computer Sciences or designee, the Math Tutor will assist the MTH 0905/100 professor by providing both in‑class and outside‑of‑class support to students in order to improve overall class academic performance.

- Attend all class sessions held in the lab to support students while they are completing individual class work or small group work assigned by the professor.
- Be available in class to provide one‑on‑one assistance to any student who needs supplemental help during the professor’s lecture.
- Be available outside‑of‑class for an additional scheduled number of hours each week to tutor students either in a one‑on‑one or small group format.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Use strength to lift items needed to perform the functions of the job.
- Sit, stand, and walk/move from place to place for required periods of time.
- Move between buildings.
- Speak and hear, communicate using telephone and/or walkie‑talkie.
- Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, including but not limited to computers, keyboards, telephones, calculators, and controls.
- Bend, twist, climb, push, pull, and lift.
- ECC student or recent graduate in a STEM major with strong mathematics skills.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment at all times.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Major in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or related area.
- One or more years experience as a tutor or teaching assistant.
- Major in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or related area.
