Part‑Time Instructor, Arts, Culture & Media, Spring 2026
Position offered by the School of Arts and Sciences‑Newark, Rutgers University‑Newark. The department seeks part‑time instructors (Lecturer/Coadjutant) for the Spring 2026 semester to teach a variety of courses in fine art, art history, graphic design, journalism, music, theater, and film and video production. Courses include surveys, laboratories, studios, workshops, music instruction, upper‑level courses, and graduate courses focused on specific themes or topics.
Responsibilities- Prepare course materials and create and post course syllabus.
- Present material during assigned course times.
- Hold office hours and provide appropriate out‑of‑class time for students.
- Respond to student e‑mail.
- Conduct and grade assessments of students through assignments, exams and other means in a timely manner.
- Submit final grades.
- Accept instruction in daytime, evenings, weekends, off‑campus, online, hybrid, remotely, or any combination as required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred;
Master’s degree or Ph.D. strongly preferred. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level is highly desired.

A minimum of $2,777 per credit. Final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications and experience, availability of department or grant funds, market benchmarks, and internal equity.
