Position Information
Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Rutgers University‑Newark. Tenure‑track appointment in the broadly defined field of cellular, molecular, and developmental biology. Appointment begins September 1, 2026.
OverviewThe successful candidate will contribute to research initiatives in host‑microbiome axes and/or cytoskeleton/epigenetics/developmental biology using model experimental systems. The candidate will join a collaborative environment with access to advanced microscopy, genomic, metabolomic, proteomics, and animal facilities within Rutgers‑Newark and the Rutgers research core ecosystem. Applicants currently in postdoctoral or assistant professor positions are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities- Develop and sustain an independent research program that advances the field and attracts extramural funding.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise students and postdocs.
- Participate in departmental service, faculty committees, and university activities.
- Mentor junior faculty, postdocs, and students in research, teaching, and career development.
- Ph.D. or equivalent in biology or related discipline.
- Record of peer‑reviewed publications and a research plan that clearly articulates future direction and funding prospects.
- Strong teaching record or demonstrated teaching potential.
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
