Civil Engineer - Highways
Reports to:
Department Manager – Civil Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
- Ability to work independently with guidance from supervisors.
- Problem-solving capabilities.
- Design of highways including alignment, grading, stormwater management, traffic control, signing, striping, utility relocation, and erosion control.
- Prepare calculations, reports, and spreadsheets.
- Draft technical specifications in accordance with DOT and project requirements.
- Calculate quantities and develop construction cost estimates for budgeting and bidding.
- Lead and collaborate with design teams to develop detailed construction plans.
- Create and modify engineering plans using AutoCAD or Micro Station.
- Conduct field investigations, data collection, and infrastructure inventory.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer’s License in NY or NJ.
- At least 5 years of experience in civil/site or transportation engineering.
- Experience with highway design.
- Knowledge of NYSDOT or NJDOT standards is a plus.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year
