Job Overview
Our client specializes in the design and implementation of fire protection and life-safety systems across commercial, industrial, and institutional projects and is looking to add an experienced Systems Designer to the engineering team, with strong technical design experience (Fire Sprinkler and/or Fire Alarm) and excellent communications skills.
Job Title: Fire Sprinkler Systems Designer
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed sprinkler system layouts and design drawings in compliance with NFPA standards, building codes, and local jurisdiction requirements.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and system sizing to ensure proper performance.
- Prepare fabrication drawings, stock lists, technical submittals, and material takeoffs.
- Produce accurate and efficient designs using programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, AutoSPRINK, Sprink

CALC, and Hydra
LIST. - Work with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and AHJs to ensure code-compliant and constructible designs.
- Review contract documents, specifications, and site conditions to determine project requirements.
- Support project managers in design scheduling, budgeting, and progress tracking.
- Assist during construction by reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits as required.
- Provide accurate as-built drawings and support final inspections.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to deliver coordinated fire protection solutions.
- Mentor junior designers and CAD staff as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Drafting/Design Technology or related field required.
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering a plus.
- 5–10 years of proven experience designing fire sprinkler and/or fire alarm systems.
- NICET Level II or higher in Water-Based Systems Layout a plus
- Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, International Building/Fire Codes, and local codes.
- Proficiency in software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, AutoSPRINK, Sprink

LIST. - Strong understanding of hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, and material specifications.
- Ability to read and coordinate with architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Strong communication and organizational abilities.
- Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines with attention to detail.
