Operations Supervisor III

The Operations Supervisor III is responsible for overseeing one or more processes related to the treatment of wastewater and/or biosolids, supervising staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining plant operations.

• Prepare concise and accurate reports, provide conclusions, and make recommendations.
• Train and supervise subordinate employees performing activities related to wastewater and biosolids treatment and disposal, assigning appropriate tasks.
• Knowledge of governmental regulations, laws, and rules pertaining to wastewater collection and treatment.
• Knowledge of principles and methods for treatment and disposal of wastewater and biosolids, including occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Computer literacy and ability to plan, organize, and execute a computerized maintenance management program.
• Proficient verbal and written communication in English.
• Ability to work a rotating shift basis.

• Valid New Jersey driver’s license.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a wastewater treatment facility.
• New Jersey Treatment Plant S2 license required (or actively pursuing).
• New Jersey C2 collections system license preferred.
• Actively pursuing defined as taking the State license exam at least two (2) times per year until obtained.

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate required.
• Associate’s degree in engineering or the sciences preferred.
• Satisfactory completion of Basic and Advanced Wastewater Treatment courses required.
• Completion of Advanced Wastewater Collections course preferred.

• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Perform physical activities requiring use of arms, legs, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping, and handling heavy objects.
• Ability to enter confined spaces while wearing proper PPE such as canister and dust masks, SCBA.

Expected base pay range is $108,070 to $135,039. Salary offered may be influenced by experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.

Workers employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system. Work indoors and outdoors, and must be available for emergencies or assignments on a 24-hour basis.
