Shift: Evening (3pm-11pm, with 8-hour off on Wednesday and Thursday; rotating holiday requirement)

The Financial Counselor (Customer Services Representative) helps reduce Accounts Receivables by assisting patients directly with billing and financial aspects of their care, responding to correspondence, handling billing and re-billing, addressing denial issues, and managing Accounts Receivable credits and trend monitoring. Under limited supervision, determines liability on patient accounts and works with patients or their representatives to provide financial assistance or secure payment, while processing Medicaid and other financial assistance applications for the Health System’s charity care fund.
EssentialFunctions
- Take actions to maximize collection of balances due and resolve accounts from all sources, meeting quality and productivity expectations.
- Facilitate account resolution and accurately identify, follow‑up on, or correct billing errors, low reimbursement, or denials for correction or resubmission to patients and/or insurance carriers, applying a priority matrix to minimize time and effort.
- Timely identify, research and resolve issues that may delay payment or account resolution; recommend opportunities to improve collections and follow‑up activities.
- Collaborate across teams, peers, and revenue cycle departments.
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- 1–2 years’ experience in healthcare insurance billing or account follow‑up.
- Strong knowledge of patient accounting systems.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a team with quick turnaround and quality output.
- Prior experience with Medicaid and Charity Care.
- Full‑time, evening shift.
- 3 pm–11 pm, with 8-hour off on Wednesday and Thursday (schedule changes based on business needs).
- Rotating holiday requirement.
