Court Interpreter 1 - Conditionally Approved/Trainee (Level
1)

Minimum Salary: $61,211.50

Maximum Salary A: $

Maximum Salary B: $97,043.01

Employees at this level interpret proceedings of limited legal significance or limited linguistic complexity and may prepare draft translations of forms, letters, and other court-related documents.

Court Interpreter 1 - Journey (Level 2a)

Minimum Salary: $71,937.01

Maximum Salary A: $

Maximum Salary B: $97,043.01

Employees interpret legal proceedings and translate forms, letters, and court-related documents.

Court Interpreter 2 - Master (Level
3)

Minimum Salary: $76,253.21

Maximum Salary A: $

Maximum Salary B: $

Employees interpret complex legal proceedings and translate court-related documents.

Note: Additional positions may be filled from this applicant pool if they become available within five months.

The Essex Vicinage seeks a detail-oriented professional to interpret in court and virtual proceedings, produce translations, and participate in training activities. The position requires interpreting in sight, consecutive, and simultaneous modes, both in person and via telecommunication devices. The role involves data entry, assisting with freelance interpreters, and other administrative tasks. Applicants must be approved court interpreters by the NJ Administrative Office of the Courts and pass a translation test.

Additional requirements include possessing a valid NJ driver’s license if driving is necessary, being authorized to work in the US, and passing a background check. Newly hired employees must establish residency in NJ within one year.
