Supervisor of Data Processing Systems & Programming - Division of Information Technology. Position is pending availability of funds and Board approval.

Under direction, supervises the planning, design, implementation and analysis of computer systems and programs; does other related work.

Applicants must meet one of the following:

• 9 years of professional experience in the design, installation and operation of computer programs, including systems analysis, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university plus 5 years of the above experience, with at least 2 years supervisory.

License: A valid New Jersey driver’s license is required only if vehicle operation is necessary.

Basic Functions and Responsibilities

• Supervise systems analysis and programming staff.
• Supervise analysis and evaluation of operational applications processed on electronic data processing equipment.
• Design flow‑charts, diagrams and develop systems and programming procedures to increase operating efficiency.
• Plan, schedule and supervise work activities of staff.
• Establish programming standards and goals.
• Write and correct complex programs.
• Participate in systems analysis and plan data processing techniques.
• Review completed systems and programs for adherence to agency policy and standards.
• Supervise work operations, handle employee evaluations, recommend hiring/firing/promotions, discipline.
• Cooperate with other technical and operating personnel in planning operating schedules.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations.
• Supervise establishment and maintenance of records and files.
• Learn to use various electronic or manual recording and information systems.

Knowledge and Abilities

• Knowledge of computer equipment capabilities, programming procedures and techniques, analysis and correction methods, data processing system design.
• Ability to identify and correct programming problems, reason logically, develop controls for accuracy, plan applications, schedule and supervise staff.
• Ability to provide assignments and instructions, write clear manuals, prepare reports, maintain records, analyze production workflow and staff utilization.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships.
• Ability to use electronic/manual recording and information systems.
• Proficiency in English; ASL or Braille may be acceptable.
