The Knowledge House delivers programs in Newark, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. Our mission is to build a diverse tech workforce by uplifting individuals from the most underestimated and underserved communities. The TKH model offers in‑demand tech skills training coupled with comprehensive wrap‑around services to support each Fellow’s journey to career success.

Role Overview

Managing Director for NJ & DC reports directly to the CEO and serves as TKH’s regional leader—setting the local vision, goals, and success metrics aligned with the national organization. The MD is the primary revenue driver for the New Jersey and DC region, leading fundraising, revenue, strategic partnerships, and a high‑performing team devoted to equity and innovation.

Fundraising & Strategic Partnerships (50%)
  • Own and deliver the annual fundraising goal ($1.5M+), working with national development to steward and expand donor relationships.
  • Build, engage, and mobilize a Regional Advisory Council to maximize local resources and influence.
  • Act as TKH’s lead ambassador in NJ & DC—cultivating new high‑impact partnerships across tech, education, government, and community organizations.
  • Consistently communicate the TKH vision and value proposition to inspire ongoing support.
  • Secure in‑kind and venue resources for student, partner, and networking events.
Program & Employer Partnership Leadership (35%)
  • Collaborate with national and local program teams to own regional program outcomes: quality, recruitment, student retention, and job placement.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community‑based organizations, employers, and government entities to create a steady pipeline of program referrals/support and job/internship opportunities.
  • Develop and steward regional employer partnerships that translate learning into career opportunities for alumni and current students.
  • Identify local trends and opportunities to inform and adapt program strategies.
  • Ensure delivery of effective wraparound supports and actively participate in building vibrant learning communities.
Team & Organizational Leadership (15%)
  • Lead and mentor a talented regional staff, fostering a driven, inclusive, and mission‑oriented culture.
  • Use data and outcomes to monitor regional performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure operational and fiscal stewardship, including overseeing office and event space.
  • Build team engagement through regular communication, professional development, and a focus on impact‑driven results.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years overall professional experience, with at least 4 years in senior management—including budget accountability, team leadership, and organizational growth.
  • 5+ years people management (direct reports) with a record of building high‑functioning, diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and partnership development (nonprofit, education, workforce, or social enterprise strongly preferred).
  • Experience leading programs focused on student success, workforce readiness, or career pathways.
  • Comfort operating in fast‑paced, mission‑driven, and sometimes ambiguous settings; an entrepreneurial problem‑solver.
  • Stellar communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills; ability to energize and influence a broad set of partners.
  • Passion for equity, social impact, and expanding opportunity for underrepresented communities.
  • Experience working with adult learners or similar populations is highly valued.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $115,000- $130,000 per year.
