The primary purpose of the Advanced Nurse Practice (APN) position is to be a skilled healthcare provider with a written collaborative practice agreement with Physicians in the Orthopaedic Clinic and credentialing through the Medical Staff Office. The APN collaborates with Practice Managers and Physicians on Standards of Care, mentors and supervises staff and students in managing orthopaedic patients through evidence-based practice.
Responsibilities include performing comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, addressing behavioral aspects of illness and disease. The APN promotes wellness by conducting research, providing education, and impacting public policy, working autonomously and as part of orthopaedic teams as a resource and consultant. The APN is self-directed, continuously seeking knowledge and skills to maintain competency. Specific duties include:
Must hold a current Registered/Professional Nurse license and registration in New Jersey. Completion of a master's degree in nursing from an educational program designed to prepare graduates as NP/APN, with eligibility for certification by a recognized national certifying body. Demonstrated publication in peer-reviewed journals and experience as a Principal Investigator in a relevant area are highly desirable. Orthopaedic practice experience is preferred.
Candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and creative problem-solving skills, along with solid computer skills. A minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience and current BLS certification are required. Participation in professional or specialty organizations is preferred.
