American Traveler is hiring an RN - Critical Care Float for a night shift ICU/CCU position requiring an active NJ or Compact license and 1.5+ years of critical care experience.
Details- Combined ICU/CCU unit within a qua ternary-care teaching hospital
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
- Patient ratios range from 1:1-3 in critical care to 1:4 if floated to stepdown, varying by census and acuity
- Float requirement includes ICU/CCU, CTICU, Step Down units, and ED Holding for ICU patients awaiting beds
- Every other weekend requirement
- EPIC charting system used
- Active NJ or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1.5 years of critical care/ICU experience required
- Skills required:
arterial line management, starting/maintaining IVs, phlebotomy - Experience caring for ventilated patients and interpreting ABGs required
- Experience with post cardiac surgery patients (not directly from OR) and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Swan-Ganz catheter experience highly preferred
- Experience with or exposure to IABP, Impella, and VAD highly preferred
- CTICU or medical cardiology experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Work within a 653-bed qua ternary-care regional teaching hospital with a large heart transplant program, advanced lung disease and transplant program, and structural heart and valve center
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Winter holiday coverage required (work or on-call) for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays:
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's - Candidates must float within their skillset without exception
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply

- Former RWJBH employees (full-time or PRN) must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
