Posting SummaryRutgers, The State University of New Jersey, seeks a Research Associate II in the Departments of Pharmacology, Physiology & Neuroscience at the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Associate II will conduct advanced research to identify the molecular mechanisms underlying cerebrovascular deficits in Alzheimer’s disease using biochemical methods, immunohistochemistry, fiber‑optic spectroscopy, two‑photon microscopy, and genetically modified mouse/rat models.
Responsibilities- Perform various research and technical operations related to ongoing laboratory investigations, often independently or as part of project teams.
- Develop performance standards, select methodology and instrumentation, and coordinate analytic and instrumentation functions with research areas to ensure conformance with program goals.
- Assist in continuous research and development programs focused on new procedures and instrumentation for the laboratory.
- Help implement programs and projects in special interest areas related to the overall research program.
- Conduct highly skilled biochemical, molecular biology, and immunohistochemical techniques in studying Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis, including the use of biochemical methods, immunohistochemistry, fiber‑optic spectroscopy, two‑photon microscopy, and genetically modified mouse/rat models.
- Record and analyze data for studies.
- Contribute to writing manuscripts and review articles arising from research activities.
- Provide training to graduate students and technicians.
- Ph.D. degree or equivalent in a relevant science, or a Master’s degree in a relevant science plus three (3) years of related research experience.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties.
- Research experience in biochemical, molecular biology, and immunohistochemical techniques with an interest in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis.

FLSA:
Exempt
Grade: 23S
Salary Range: $65,272 – $92,772 (maximum salary $69,585). Final offer will consider qualifications, experience, and funding availability.
Work Hours:
37.5 hours per week (standard 37.5 hours). This is a full‑time, on‑site position required at the Newark campus.

Terms of Appointment:
Staff – 12 months
