Role And ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:
An OTG Commercial Kitchen Service Technician troubleshoots and fixes restaurant equipment. In this career, you repair kitchen appliances and perform regular maintenance. Responsibilities include communicating with other food industry professionals, ensuring cooking appliances work properly, monitoring truck stock, and ensuring supplies reach the kitchen. The technician keeps a log of repairs and services needed, installs new kitchen equipment, maintains a neat and orderly workstation, and provides excellent customer service for restaurant professionals.
- Install new commercial kitchen equipment, including dishwashers, conveyors, ovens, stoves, kettles, fryers, steamers, and ice machines.
- Diagnose commercial cooking equipment performance through observation, testing, and setup.
- Disassemble and re‑assemble equipment to perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment to service units.
- Lift, carry, pull, and push components and/or equipment to test, set up, or maintain.
- Give and take written and verbal instructions.
- Complete documents to verify work performed.
- Work flexible hours as required.
- High‑school graduation or equivalent.
- Burn and fire‑watch certificates a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with plumbing, electrical, and copper work as it pertains to new installation.
- Diagnostic ability demonstrated through at least 2 years’ experience or training in commercial cooking equipment such as fryers and grills.
- Ability to competently use a variety of meters, measuring instruments, torches, and hand tools.
- Ability to effectively communicate with the customer.
- Ability to work independently, under pressure, and without close supervision; willing and able to consistently work the schedule required by job demands.
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force (pulling, pushing, lifting, carrying, etc.) regularly and up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, twist, grasp to perform essential job functions.
- Ability to tolerate environmental conditions consisting of extreme heat, cold, noise, vibration, fumes, dust, and poor ventilation.
Pay rate: $32 – $40 per hour.
