Job Overview

Electrician – Amtrak – Newark

• Inspect, test and maintain electrical, electronic and HVAC systems on rolling stock equipment in accordance with FRA and Amtrak standards.
• Diagnose malfunctions using test equipment, PC and graphic information; troubleshoot and qualify components.
• Repair or replace doors, electronics, signs, pantographs, HVAC systems, motors, generators, switches, relays, batteries and transformers.
• Perform approved electrical modifications and repairs as necessary.
• Maintain proper use of materials, test equipment, machines and hand tools normally associated with the job.

• HVAC experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in electrical repairs and testing advanced electrical/electronic systems and reading, drafting and interpreting circuit diagrams, schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Experience in both AC and DC electrical systems.
• Must successfully complete training and attain/retain certifications applicable to the job.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems; ability to troubleshoot using schematics and multimeters.
• Some computer skills.
• Must be able to lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.

• Experience in the maintenance of railroad equipment.
• Completion of technical school or apprenticeship program.

• Must be able to lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.

Hourly range: $30.25 – $39.86
