Auto Body Mechanic

Job Overview

The Auto Body Mechanic I is responsible for auto body repair and maintenance of PVSC vehicles and associated equipment.

• Perform auto body repair tasks using tools such as wrenches, welding equipment, power grinders, and spray guns.
• Maintain and align vehicles using hydraulic pressure alignment machines and metal cutting guns.
• Adhere to safety precautions during all repair tasks.
• Respond to emergencies and job assignments on a 24‑hour basis.

• Seven (7) years of experience in the automotive body repair trade.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license.
• ASE certification preferred but not required.
• High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required. Advanced training from an accredited technical or trade school preferred.

• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Enter confined spaces while wearing proper PPE such as canister and dust masks and SCBA.
• Lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, balance, walk, stoop, and handle heavy objects.

Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work indoors and outdoors.

The expected base pay range is $94,465 to $118,020.
