Title: Part-time Assistant Coach Men's & Women’s Cross Country Track & Field
Department: Intercollegiate Athletics
Reports To: Head Mens/Womens Track Coach

Position SummaryAs an Assistant Coach for NJIT's intercollegiate Men's & Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field teams, this role is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the proper and overall management of the Track & Cross Country programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Essential Functions- Coaching activities: provide a full array of services related to the Cross Country Track & Field Program, including organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training and competition, with emphasis on distance runners.
- Assist in identifying and recruiting prospective student-athletes for the intercollegiate Men's & Women’s Cross Country Track & Field program, in accordance with NCAA rules, regulations, guidelines and standards.
- Assist in monitoring distance training and practice sessions and ensure safety guidelines and standards are maintained.
- Provide assistance in the coordination and administration of the program as required.
- NCAA Compliance:
Knowledge of and adherence to all applicable NCAA rules, regulations, bylaws, constitutions and related university rules, regulations and policies. - Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintain current health care certifications (First aid, CPR/AED).
- Must be available for early morning training sessions and some weekends.
- A Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience at the club or intercollegiate level; with a specialty in one of the following areas: long distance & middle distance.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in the area of sporting specialty.
- Knowledge of the applicable team or individual sport and its playing rules.
- Ability to foster a cooperative environment.
- Knowledge of NCAA student-athlete academic eligibility requirements.
- Knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules.
- Ability to understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Valid driver’s license.
- CPR/AED and First-aid certification.
- Education/experience prerequisites may be exempted at the university's discretion if the candidate can demonstrate an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Salary:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the rate for this position is $7,500 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes incentives, bonuses, or other items.
