Position Summary

The Student Radiology Assistant performs a wide variety of routine duties including clerical, technical and patient‑related functions. This position is responsible for assisting members of the patient care team, and providing a wide range of health care services such as patient check‑in, exam review, preparation for visit, patient education, assistance with exams and procedures, and patient transporting. This Radiology Assistant will use a wide variety of equipment, computers and software.

The Radiology Assistant will assist with various tasks per operational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with imaging procedures, performs clerical duties including record‑keeping, and maintains high quality services.
  • Communicates effectively with patients/families and all care providers. Exhibits a caring attitude.
  • Interacts with staff and co‑workers in a manner that promotes positive working relationships.
  • Checks the order for complete information and appropriateness criteria.
  • Adheres to established section and organizational protocols, Quality Control, Quality Assurance Guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Sets up the imaging room to coincide with the examination being performed to include the use of proper isolation precautions, as needed.
  • Provides quality customer service, explains all studies to a patient in a clear manner, and provides information and resources to patient and family.
  • Safely transfers patient to and from carts, beds, wheelchairs utilizing lifting devices if necessary.
  • Positions patient ensuring patient comfort and modesty.
  • Engages in professional and ethical conduct.
  • Adheres to proper cleaning and infection control guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education/Requirements
  • Graduate or a current student in an accredited Sonography program.
  • The candidate must be a second year student and be within 10 months prior to graduation or 6 months post graduation.
  • The candidate shall provide a letter signed by their program director indicating the anticipated date of graduation or successful completion of the program.
  • LMHS, in its discretion, may request from you or others information concerning matters that may be relevant to your eligibility for certification and certification status.
  • LMHS is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
